Carpet beetle aka fur beetle are often described as a pest, however they don’t bite, do not spread disease and do not pose a risk to human health. They do cause extensive damage to textiles, materials and fabrics. Carpet beetle are small, round creatures about the size of a ladybird. They lay anything from 20 to 100 eggs during spring and early summer and from these eggs comes larvae known as ‘woolly bears,’ it is these woolly bears that cause all the damage feeding on the natural fibres!!
